Abstract

Even though the influence that Greek culture, and in particular, its philosophy, served on Cicero is well known, it has not been highlighted his insistence on showing the superiority of Rome also in areas such as oratory or political thought. Using as theoretical framework E. Said's Orientalism, we aim to interpret Cicero in postcolonial terms, i.e. as an author who wants to legitimize the rule of Rome, using her cultural superiority as the main argument
