La problematización del Epicureísmo en la tragedia de Séneca
Main Article Content
Abstract
It is well known that Seneca, in his tragedies, aims not at an indoctrinating exposition of Stoic concepts, as some XIXth and early XXth centuries scholars have claimed (vid. specially Marti, B. 1945 & 1947), but they rather are poetical representations and explorations of certain paradoxical aspects of his thought. In this work, we aim to find out if, along with Seneca’s inquiries on the Stoic doctrine, there are certain aspects of another doctrine with which Seneca himself, in his Moral Letters, acknowledges a rich dialogue, this is to say, the Epicurean doctrine. To achieve we will look upon certain passages of Troades, Thyestes, Hercules furens and Hippolytus where the diction or the content points us to an exposition of Epicurean concepts.
