Abstract

While the extensive commentary of Servius to the Virgilian work aroused suspicion as to the veracity of its affirmations, at present, the amount of information transmitted by the late grammarian is more understandable from a historicist "construction". Depending on the Servian insistence in questioning the credibility of the epic tale, the objectives of this work are to analyze some of the exegetical instruments that unfold around Aeneas and the relations with Roman history, without underestimating that the commentator himself faces a poetic text, which should not adjust to the rigidity of history
